I am a native New Yorker who loves making and innovative design. I’m especially interested in rethinking and creating hands-on, interdisciplinary educational tools. My goal is to inspire children to transform their ideas into reality. My other interests include baking, robotics, urban design, singing, surfing, and rock climbing.
I am fascinated by the possibilities that emerge when I connect disparate areas to create something new. My first major project was a castle showcasing Archimedean simple machines I demonstrated at the NY World Maker Faire. This sparked my interest in robotics, coding, CAD, and CNCing. I also may have been deeply moved by the design elements on the Halcyon Galactic Star Cruiser and still keep a box of Magna-Tiles under my bed—we’re never too old to build!
My love of architecture began with family trips to archaeological sites, where I discovered how ancient civilizations interacted with their infrastructure. One of my favorite memories is my little sister and I trying to figure out how to press olive oil and grind wheat with huge ancient stones. It also was the day I first considered the environment’s impact on cities, as I learned how the site’s harbor had silted in and no longer was near the sea.
I’m in my third year of an accelerated interdisciplinary program that challenges students to examine complex academic questions, conduct independent research, and design projects to meet curricular goals. We then analyze our results and reflect on the process in research papers, and present and defend oral dissertations. Through this program, I’ve completed many of the projects showcased on this site.
